Niquette Quick Snips

Dr. Louis Barthelemi Niquette & Franco-American Society

Dr. Louis B. Niquette was an influential contributor to Franco-American history. As part of that history to document the growth of French-Canadian communities,  Franco-American national societies originated to preserve their language, ancestral customs, and national character. To cement alliances and promote their history, these societies participated in assemblies and sent delegates to a national convention. In 1886-1887, the Franco-American convention was established, with Dr. Niquette, Northampton MA, serving as Vice-President of the organizing committee. He also was selected as a delegate to the convention when it was held in Southbridge MA on August 1887.
